Hany Abu-Assad has signed on to direct TriStar Pictures’ planned Infidel movie, according to Variety. The film would be based on Pornsak Pichetshote and Aaron Campbell’s Image Comics series from earlier this year, which has been adapted for film by screenwriters Juliet Snowden and Stiels White.

“A haunted house story for the 21st century, Infidel follows an American Muslim woman and her multi-racial neighbors who move into a building haunted by entities that feed off xenophobia,” reads Image’s description of the limited series.

Abu-Assad was nominated for Academy Awards for his films Paradise Now and Omar, and most recently directed Fox’s The Mountain Between Us.

TriStar has not set a release date for this film.
